EMPOWER HER BLOG: Finding The Right Bible Verse

How many times have you started to read the Bible and was not sure exactly what to read or where to start?

If I can be honest with you, for me, it has been more times than I can count!

When I was younger, I was taught how to find specific books and verses in the Bible.

I learned about the New Testament and The Old Testament.

However, I never knew how to go to scriptures within the intent for God to speak directly to me.

You know, like how pastors and church leaders do 😀

Well..I didn’t know how to do this, but I do now!

And, I figure why not share what I have learned, so, you too, can go to scripture to hear what you need to receive from God.

What I am about to share I believe is going to help you gain a new strategic way in your Bible reading.

To help put things in perspective for you, the first thing I want to share is that the Bible is written in sections.

For example, many believers have heard of the gospels that include Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, but many are not aware these books of the Bible are written within the Gospel Section of the Bible!

In other words, I believe this specific section, The Gospels, is written, so we, believers, can go to the Bible and find information about Jesus and his ministry.

Here’s another example:

Many believers are familiar with the book of Proverbs being a book about wisdom.

However, Proverbs is not only a book about wisdom, Proverbs is also a part of the wisdom section of the Bible!

The wisdom section of the Bible includes Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Songs of Songs.

Meaning, if you need wisdom from God, check out one of these books of the Bible in the wisdom section😉

I encourage you the next time you read your Bible be strategic in your reading!

Do the following:

• Thank God for His word.

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.” 1 Chronicles 16:34 NLT

Let Him know how grateful you are to spend time with Him in His word.

Invite Him to speak directly to you through His word.

“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” Jeremiah 33:3 NKJV

Share with Him what you want to hear from Him. Ask Him to make His word practical to you.

• Finally, go to the specific section within the Bible where you need God to speak to you or where you would like to learn more information from Him.

“My words are plain to anyone with understanding, clear to those with knowledge. Choose my instruction rather than silver, and knowledge rather than pure gold.” Proverbs 8:9-10 NLT

Feel free to highlight or underline every thing that stuck out to you as you read. I believe you will need it sooner than later 😆

Now, I cannot let you go without sharing all the Bible’s sections with you. Feel free to use the image below as a guide the next time you read your Bible or share with someone you know so they too can be more strategic when they read!

Biblical References

1 Chronicles 16:34

Jeremiah 33:3

Proverbs 8:9-10

Faith Nuggets!

Be more strategic in your Bible reading.

If you need wisdom from God, ask Him to make His word more practical to you.
