I can remember vividly a time when insecurity and anxiety were a dwelling place in my mind.
I truly believe it was as if my mind were the devil's playground.
I constantly found myself in a state of questioning everything I said and/or did.
This would leave me feeling extremely exhausted before my day could properly end because, rather than putting my energy into functioning like a normal person, I was placing it on nitpicking every part of my being.
I had to learn to quickly become at peace with my mind rather than being at war with it.
There is no fulfillment in constantly criticizing ourselves; it is the quickest way to invite people pleasing and discouragement into our lives.
We leave the enemy with no work to do by being so hard on ourselves because, in times like these, we are our own worst enemy.
It is very clear what God's Word reminds us about who we are as His children, but apart from this, we are also reminded how to combat any war in our minds that shall arise in our day-to-day lives.
2 Corinthians 10:5 says, "We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ."
This scripture began to be the verse I recited daily.
I began declaring and decreeing this truth over myself after submitting those things I had no control over to Christ, and only then did I begin to see His mercies in my life.
Two things are true: God is able to set us free from whatever seeks to keep us in bondage, and we can find peace in the safety of His mercies.
