What’s interesting about Christianity for me is I grew up in Christianity and didn’t understand the full context of a Christ follower until a few years ago 😳
I grew up in church culture.
My Father, Pastor.
My Mother, First Lady.
I attended Sunday School…weekly.
Celebrated Easter & Christmas…yearly.
My Godmother and I at church during Easter☺️
However, I really didn’t comprehend the true meaning of what a Christ follower really is.
In my mind, in order for me to be a good Christian I needed to live in the expectation of what I believe what others wanted me to do within the church community.
However, these past few years have changed my paradigm.
And, I really believe they have changed because I made a decision what I call to live the surrendered life.
So, let me give you the deets!
In 2017, I went to a church service.
And, in that church service, I really felt like I had an encounter with God like I never had before.
Because of that church service, I made a decision to really commit to Christ.
I had spent years trying to live life my own way.
I spent years trying to live life in other people’s exceptations of me.
However, in that moment, I decided to make a decision to completely give my heart to God in whatever way he wanted, so I could live every ounce of the purpose He has for my life!
Once I made that decision I’m not going to say everything changed like my life became perfect.
What I can say is after making that decision I can honestly say I felt and have seen how God has changed my heart.
I believe He’s changed my heart towards people, things, and even situations I have encountered in the past.
It’s honestly been one of the best decisions that I have made!
And, now I’m in a place where I am truly confident to trust in God, even when things don’t make sense.
I still know and believe that God is going to make a way.
My faith never aligns with my feelings and it’s literally beyond me!
If that makes sense 😄
If I can sum up Christianity in three points, it would be the following:
1. Choosing to follow Christ in the ways of Christ.
Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God. Ephesians 5:2
2. Choose to have a personal relationship with Christ…which really could of been number one lol
If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
3. Choose to lead others to Christ.
In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your Heavenly Father. Matthew 5:16
I believe if anyone chooses to be a christian that’s the purpose of being a follower of Christ.
In fact, I believe that’s really every person’s purpose here on earth: to be a Christ follower.
The cherry on top of all of that is really choosing to use the gifts God has given us to fulfill that purpose.
So for me, my cherry on top would be writing.
Choosing to follow Christ (Having a personal relationship with Christ) and use writing to bring others to Christ.
That’s what it’s all about!
